We Love You Mom!
There is a very special day coming up! It's a day that means so much to so many. Mother's Day! While we should all practice thankfulness to our Mom's everyday, this is one day we get to treat Mom like the Queen she truly is. I, myself, have been a mom for 8 years now. I have two boys and a fur baby. While it's not a cake walk everyday, it's the most fulfilling, tiring, exciting, emotional, heart breaking, and absolute best title I could have ever been given. As Mom's, we always are thinking of other people. It's not in our nature to be selfish or put ourselves first. So to me, Mother's Day is a day that I get to just relish in the fact that not only am I a Mom, but I've managed to keep tiny humans alive for (insert number of years here). That's a freaking miracle in itself. I couldn't even keep a houseplant alive in my early 20's, yet somehow the powers that be deemed me worthy to care for other humans. That is crazy. So yeah, I'm going to pat myself on the back a little bit, just for one day.
This year marked an incredible shift for me; not only as a Mom, but also as a small business owner. On March 6th, 2020, I left my job as a Project Manager to run my business and pursue my dream of being a photographer. While this season hasn't been easy, and it's been extremely unsettling with Covid-19, I can say I wouldn't trade it for anything. Not only have I been able to be home with my children full time, but I have also been able to make some amazing connections with other local women in business.
It has been such an honor to be apart of this group of ladies. I have learned a ton just by being connected to them. Many of them, including this great group of gals, makes it a point to give to charities in the metro area. Some even multiple! So when given the opportunity to team up with a few of them, I jumped on it. Together, we created the most lovely Mother's Day Giveaway ever. Here are the details! Each of the following businesses has donated a piece from their collection. Whether it's jewelry, a beauty bag, hand crafted signs and floral arrangements, or gift certificates, this goodie basket is filled with things Mom will love. I mean, I kind of want it and I donated to it so... It's pretty cool.

Janel Campbell, owner of Live Simple Studio, created the giveaway. Live Simple Studio, based in Kansas City, offers beautifully unique, handmade jewelry and accessories at a reasonable price. When she is not creating these lovely pieces, she often likes to donate to local charities. Most recently, she donated a portion of her proceeds the the Help Humane Shelter in Belton, MO. Help Humane is a true no-kill cat and dog shelter with a mission to rescue/foster/adopt out all animals that come into their facility.
In the giveaway, Janel has included a set of genuine leather earrings and matching necklace for the giveaway. To see more of her work, follow her on Facebook HERE.
Nadia Straub owns Strauberry Boutique; a clothing and accessory boutique that believes
"Looking good shouldn't break the bank". Nadia specializes in bringing affordable fashion to Kansas City without forgoing quality. When she isn't creating chic looks, Nadia also volunteers with Operation Breakthrough; a non-profit organization offering education, safety, and advocacy, to impoverished children and their families. She invests her time and purchases items desperately needed. She also donates 10% of proceeds from Strauberry Boutique to Operation Breakthrough. Nadia has donated a very cute accessories bag to the giveaway. You can follow Nadia on Facebook HERE.
Seeds & Chevron, co-owned and operated by Teresa Rice and Karis Rosell, was founded when the two friends paired their love of fiber arts and jewelry. They create one of a kind jewelry that combines the latest fashion trends with classic bead work. To give back to the community, Teresa and Karis donate pieces from their collection to different local non-profits in the community. Most recently, they donated several pieces to the ALS Foundations and support Spay and Neuter of Kansas City through proceeds of their pieces sold through Busy Hands; a local company in Kansas City. Teresa and Karis have donated a lovely earring and necklace set for the giveaway. You can follow Seeds & Chevron on Facebook HERE.
Katy Hanenberger-Bailey is owner and operator of Recut Designs. Katy is an intuitive and
fabric artist that specializes in creating beautiful, handmade goods for your home. Need cloth grocery bags? She makes those! Want a new set of towels or burp cloths for baby? You got it. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Katy put her her creativity to great use and has been creating cloth masks for local hospital staff. She makes them and then drops them off at the hospital so they can be put to use right away. When she's not creating with fabric, she also enjoys creating word art pieces for her "100 Day Project". Each day she creates a piece of pen art and shares it on Instagram. With this, she hopes to inspire others by the words she's putting into the world. Katy has donated a set of handmade washcloths to the giveaway. You can follow Katy on Facebook, by clicking HERE.
Wreaths Unleashed is owned and
operated by Ashley Duryea-Rieschick. What started out as a hobby and way to raise money for local animal shelters has become so much more. Ashley makes beautiful and unique pieces for your home decorating pleasures. Be it stove covers, plaques, pictures, and yes wreaths, she does it all. She is extremely passionate about our furry friends and donates a portion of all proceeds to local Kansas City animal shelters. She even has hopped in the car with a pup just to transport them to their new home; be it in state or across the country. Ashley has donated a beautiful floral arrangement and farmhouse sign to the giveaway. You can follow her on Facebook HERE.
Finally, there's me! My name is Marsha Baylor and I'm owner and photographer of M Baylor
Imagery. I specialize in portrait and newborn photography and specifically love the sessions with the tiniest of us. I have made it my mission to create beautiful pieces of art that my clients will cherish and rave about for years to come. I believe that everyone deserves to see their family grow up through the art on their walls because photos were never really important in my family. I have one 5x7 portrait of my sisters, my mom and myself that was taken the year prior to my mom passing away. Since then, it has been my "why" for doing business; to create lasting memories for everyone I work with so they never have to feel the sadness of no longer having time.
When I'm not taking photos for my clients, I donate my time and photography skills to KC Pet Project and Veterans Community Project. I have also recently donated a piece with a portrait session for a giveaway through Park Hill CAFY (Community Alliance for Youth). Park Hill CAFY is a coalition of individuals concerned about the health and safety of our youth. Through education and support, the foundation hopes to decrease the abuse of substances in our community.
For this giveaway, I have donated a gift certificate for a full session with me! You can follow me on Facebook HERE.
